The city of Beloit is notifying residents about the release of a sex offender into the community.  Officials say 61-year-old Gerald L. Campton will be living at 1216 Portland Avenue.  Campton was convicted in September of 1995 of second-degree sexual assault of a child in Walworth County and in January of 1996 for the first-degree sexual assault of a child in Rock County.  His victims were preteen and early teenaged girls.  Campton remains on supervision until 2024 and is required to register with the Wisconsin Sex offender Registry and will be on lifetime GPS monitoring.
