It may not appear that much is happening on the outside, but renovation work is going strong inside the former Monterey Hotel in downtown Janesville.

Britten Langfoss with Graft Investments says the conversion of the historic building into apartments is well under way.

Langfoss say demolition work is almost complete with nothing but the floors, ceilings, support beams, and elevators remaining inside.

Langfoss says there will be 51 units ranging from a 380 square foot studio to a 1000 square foot two bedroom.

Langfoss says there won’t be enough parking spaces for each unit to have their own but there is plenty of free on-street parking near by.
