A Beloit homicide suspect is moving forward with a jury trial.

35-year-old Mario Tucker is charged with a single count of first-degree intentional homicide for shooting and killing 50-year-old Dwayne Wiggins of Beloit last December.

Tucker had his final pre-trial hearing Thursday, where his attorney Walt Isaacson indicated that Tucker plans to testify in his own defense.

Assistant District Attorney Mary Bricco said the state also plans to present testimony Tucker voluntarily gave to a police officer following his arrest.

Tucker was seen throwing an object resembling a firearm into the Rock River shortly after the shooting.

His three-day trial is scheduled to begin with jury selection August 2nd.
