snappers-farewell-season-2

The Beloit Snappers wrap up 39 years of playing in Pohlman Field at Telfer Park.

The minor league baseball team won their final game at their old ballpark Sunday with a 5-4 victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits before they transition to their brand new downtown stadium.

Long-time fans like Kevin Keith filled the stands for one final time to say goodbye and reminisce about the history they’ve been a part of.

Keith was also at the first game at Pohlman Field in 1982 to see the then-Beloit Brewers. He bought season tickets that year for 35-dollars.

He remembers sitting next to Cecil Fielder, watching his son Prince in Beloit as he worked his way up to the major leagues.

Keith and other Snappers fans in attendance Sunday shared mixed emotions: sad to see the era at Pohlman Field come to an end but excited for the future of baseball in Beloit at ABC Supply Stadium starting August 3.
