Janesville City Council members will be able to take advantage of revised policy allowing them to participate in meetings virtually, pandemic or not.

Under the language adopted by the City Council earlier this month, council members would need to give the council president three days business notice prior to their virtual participation.

Some council members expressed concern that members would participate in person even though they are sick if they have less than three days notice, and that it’s possible the policy could be abused.

City Manager Mark Freitag says he would work to accommodate council members who gave less than three days notice.

The council approved the revised policy in a five to two vote with Williams and council member Heather Miller dissenting.
