The company who will design a proposed indoor athletic and conference at Uptown Janesville could be announced soon.

City Council President Doug Marklein says more than a half dozen companies expressed interest in designing the facility following a request for proposals.

Marklein says after the contract is awarded, it will take six to seven months to design the facility. Marklein expects the council will take their final vote next spring.

Woodman’s Food Market has retained naming rights for the facility after donating $2 million toward the estimated $33 million project.
