A nationwide snow plow driver shortage doesn’t impact service in Janesville.

Operations Director Maggie Darr says employees in a number of City departments are all trained in how to operate a snow plow, so if there’s an issue, she has plenty of backup drivers.

Darr says the plow drivers are full-time year round operations division employees, so the City of Janesville doesn’t have the same issues with hiring as other municipalities that hire them as seasonal workers.

Darr says the operations division does have a few open positions, but not enough to impact the level of service for residents.
