After almost a day of deliberations a Rock County jury reaches a verdict in the homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle case against a 29-year-old Beloit woman.

Kiyoko Becker was charged with three counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and three counts of first degree recklessly endangering safety.

According to the criminal complaint, Becker was drunk when she stopped her vehicle in the driving lanes on I-43, causing a semi to crash and become disabled in the roadway. A pickup carrying three men came next and collided with the semi, killing all three occupants. Becker’s two passengers and the semi driver were also injured.

After three days of testimony, both sides delivered their closing statements Thursday morning and the case was sent to the jury for deliberations.

The jury found Becker guilty of all three counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and three counts of the lesser charge of second degree recklessly endangering safety.

Sentencing is set for July 29th.
