Students at UW-Whitewater got to hear from and discuss topics of concern with Governor Tony Evers at a campus round table Thursday afternoon.

Some students spoke on gun reform and minority led programs, with one student saying that he went to high school that experienced gun violence and he now fears for his siblings who attend the same school.

Another student noted that one of the reasons he chose to attend Whitewater was for the minority programs, but now those programs are losing funding and thus have less staff.

Some students talked about mental health and that the state needs to focus on the mental health of young people.

Others discussed sustainability education and hoped that the U-W System could be more sustainable as a whole and could inspire other university systems.

Evers made the stop as part of a tour of UW Campuses that also included UW-La Crosse and UW-Green Bay.
