A 39-year-old Janesville woman’s who’s charged with striking and killing a nine-year-old boy in a cross walk is bound over for trial.

Brenda Violante appeared before Court Commissioner Jack Hoag Monday morning where she waived her right to a preliminary hearing on a single charge of operating without a license causing death.

Violante’s attorney stood mute to the charge, and a not guilty plea was entered on her behalf.

According to the criminal complaint, Violante was stopped for the stop sign at Prairie Avenue and East memorial Drive the afternoon of September 28th, but didn’t see the boy crossing the street as she made a right turn.

Violante is currently free on a $1000 signature bond.
