Janesville will be receiving more than $2.4 million in quarterly aid from Governor Evers and the Wisconsin D-O-T for road repair and maintenance.

Finance Director Dave Godek says the money will be used for a variety of things like fixing potholes and cracks in the road, as well as yearly projects such as the re-surfacing of roads.

Godek says without aid like this, the city would have to find other sources of revenue such as an increase in property taxes to help with road upkeep.

The state gave out more than $134 million in total aid to communities across the state for road maintenance.
