Representative Clinton Anderson of the 45th Assembly District has announced he’s joining Senator Chris Larson to introduce legislation to strengthen open records laws in the State Legislature.

Anderson says part time local officials need to retain documentation such as emails, but the state legislature doesn’t have such requirements and the Open Records Bill will help keep those in the state legislature more accountable and transparent.

Anderson says his time as a local official helped lead him to see the need for this law, and as a city council member he needs to keep records for seven years, and state legislators should be held to the same standard as part time elected officials.

Anderson says he’s hoping the bill will be able to gain bipartisan support.
