A local organization which helps young girls in South Central Wisconsin build confidence and learn life skills is poised to cross a major milestone this Spring.

Girls on the Run Executive Director Christine Benedict says they started in 2005, helping 13 girls in one Madison location, but they expect to serve the 20,000th girl this season.

Benedict says she’s proud of how they’ve been able to expand their reach, now serving nine counties at over 80 different locations throughout the south central Wisconsin region.

Girls on the Run will host their annual Spring 5k to celebrate the accomplishment on June 3rd in Verona.
