Fairgoers and animals alike are dealing with the heat this week at the Rock County 4-H fair.

Fair Board President Ryan George says with a 75 year history of the fair, exhibitors have grown accustom to what it takes to make sure animals are staying cool and comfortable.

George says washing the animals down with cool water and lots of moving air works best at keeping the animals cool when temperatures are as high as they’re expected to be Friday.

George says Friday the fair is having their meat animal auction where they’ll sell all their livestock champions as well as hold their meat exhibit.

Heat index temperatures reached near 100 Thursday, and highs are expected in the mid 90s Friday.
