A 34-year-old Janesville man who’s accused of stabbing his wife back in January will spend four decades in a mental health institution.

According to the criminal complaint, Cory Ary suffers from schizophrenia, and on January 18th he stabbed his wife multiple times because he suspected her of cheating, after she wouldn’t allow him to accompany her to her mother’s doctor appointments.

Ary then called police and reported the crime himself.

In June Ary plead guilty to a single count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

Judge Ashley Morse found Ary guilty, but not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

According to online court records Monday morning Judge Morse sentenced Ary to 40 years of institutional care.
