With Wisconsin’s hunting season beginning and hiking, biking, and fishing still going strong; MercyHealth is holding a sportsman casualty care course.

Tactical Instructor Mike Blaser says tragedy can strike and accidents can happen out in the field, and they teach trauma mitigation that provides life saving tools which can keep someone alive for six hours until they’re able to get to a medical facility.

Blaser says the class will focus on how to properly apply a tourniquet, how to pack a wound and how to use a pressure dressing properly, and how to perform compression only CPR.

The class takes place October 9th from 6 to 8pm at the Emergency Services Center on Washington Street in Janesville.

The class is limited to 30 participants, and people can register by visiting MercyHealth’s website.
