It might’ve taken longer than anticipated, but Janesville has finally had to deal with its first snowstorm of the winter.

Operations Director Maggie Darr says preparation includes making sure they have all staff and equipment available, and with this week being Christmas tree collection they need to make sure they’re using all their resources appropriately.

Darr says they also have to make sure they have enough salt and chemicals on hand, and the mechanics are the unsung heroes, making sure equipment is good to go for the next big storm.

Janesville’s winter weather emergency goes into effect at 1am Tuesday and runs until noon Wednesday.
