Beloit Health System’s new NorthPointe Birth Center recently welcomed its first bundle of joy into the world.

Family Care Clinical Manager Arlene Smock says the parents of little Ivan James were happy with their experience and were glad they were able to have a natural, water birth at the center.

NorthPointe Director Mindy Brancamp says they’ve been planning for this first birth for a while, including drill with EMS associates to prepare for emergencies, prepping for a water birth, and getting ready for helping people give birth in the new environment.

Ivan James weighed in a 8 pounds, 7.5 ounces and was 21 inches long.
