It’s estimated more than 300 gallons of untreated sewage made its way into a stormwater drain in the city of Milton Tuesday.

According to a release, at around noon Tuesday city staff became aware of a sanitary sewer line backup along Hilltop Drive between Municipal Drive and Madison Avenue.

The release says crews had stopped the discharge by about 12:30pm and it’s estimated that 350 gallons of sewage were released into the storm water drainage way.

The City says the Wisconsin DNR has been notified of the overflow, and the risk to the public was deemed low.
