A Delavan man authorities say knew his son was having sex with a 7-year-old child and did nothing to stop it is now behind bars, awaiting sentencing on criminal charges.

On Wednesday, Rock County Judge John Wood revoked a $10,000 bond for 55-year-old Christopher H.L. Senecal.

Senecal is the father of Chris M.K. Senecal, the 26-year-old Janesville man now sentenced to prison after pleading guilty last fall to having thousands of pornographic images of children.

The younger Senecal was also accused of having sex with a 7-year-old child and showing that child pornographic images, but he took a plea deal to get those two charges dismissed. The younger Senecal is set to serve 30 years in prison for possessing child pornography.

On Wednesday, the older Senecal pleaded guilty that he knew his son was having sex with a child in his own home in March of 2023, yet he did nothing to prevent it.

Rock County prosecutor Alex Goulart says he’ll pursue a prison sentence for the older Senecal.

Senecal Sr.’s attorney argued the father should be allowed to remain out of jail pending his sentencing, arguing Senecal Sr. is now taking care of his ailing mother, and he’s got heart problems that require an upcoming doctor’s appointment.

Wood revoked Senecal Sr.’s bond, saying the fact Senecal Sr. now has a prison term hanging over his head poses a flight risk.
