A 22-year-old Janesville man takes a plea deal in a child pornography case.
According to online court records, Brendan Whitney plead guilty to a single count of possession of child pornography last week. Two additional counts where dismissed but read into the record.
Judge Barbara McCrory sentenced Whitney to three years in prison and three years of extended supervision. He must also register as a sex offender for 15 years.
According to the criminal complaint, Dropbox made a referral to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding Whitney who had uploaded suspected child pornography to the online file-storage platform.
Milton Police got a search warrant for Whitney’s Dropbox account and found dozens of explicit images and videos of prepubescent children.
