
The door is remaining open for the Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center to receive state funding, which has leaders in the City of Janesville excited.
City Manager Kevin Lahner says they’ll have to evaluate how the vetoes impact the timeline of the project, but language in the bill indicates a streamlined process for reviewing the funding process, so they hope they can stay close or even on the current timeline.
Lahner says he knows from experience getting funding for projects like this can be a roller coaster, and you just have to keep things in perspective and move the ball forward as long as the project has a chance.
The governor’s vetoes included removing the $4 million cap on projects and the need for the Joint Finance Committee to approve projects.
