The Janesville Police Department announces some change in command in the wake of Police Chief David Moore’s retirement.

According to a news release, Deputy Chief Chad Pearson has been appointed to the position of acting Police Chief. Pearson will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the police department.

Lieutenant Mark Ratzlaff has been appointed to the position of acting deputy police chief. Ratzlaff will be responsible for operations which include patrol.

Deputy chief Todd Kleisner will remain in charge of support services.

The Janesville Police and Fire Commission meets Friday at 3:00 to go over the applications that were received for police chief.
