If the majority of the Rock County board goes for it, retired Rock County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Barb Tillman could be the county’s new District 23 supervisor.
The county board’s staffing committee voted unanimously to recommend Tillman to the board. She and local Information Technology employee Matthew Bardeleben had applied for the vacancy.
She replaces Russ Podzilni, a 25-year board member who resigned last month as some board members complained about partisan political infighting among supervisors.
Tillman is also the chairman of Blackhawk Technical College’s board of directors. Tillman says she wants to aid the county in decisions that’ll help residents.
The board’s district 24 seat also would be filled. It was vacated when board member Jim Farrell stepped down last month amid intense board bickering.
The staff recommended applicant Jeremy Zajac for the District 24 seat. No one else put their name in for that seat. Zajac has previously served on the county board and Milton City Council.
