A 75-year-old Janesville man is recovering from injuries sustained in a fatal vehicle crash this weekend in Door County.

The Door County Sheriff’s Office has not named the local man who was driving a 2019 Lincoln MKC when it crossed the center line of Highway 42 in the village of Sister Bay Sunday afternoon.

His SUV struck a 2019 Buick Encore head on, which caused injuries to all six occupants in the two vehicles. An 89-year-old Sturgeon Bay woman, who was a passenger in the Buick, died as a result of her injuries.

The state highway was closed for several hours while Wisconsin State Patrol officers reconstructed the crash scene. Police have not released additional information about the crash as they work to notify the victims’ families.
